Firstly, the Board would like to introduce a new Board Member, John Middleton. John is a retired lawyer and will undoubtedly contribute a valuable skill set to our team. John and his wife, Eileen, reside in New Plymouth. We would also like to welcome back long-standing Board Member, Clinton Green, who was recently re-elected at the AGM. Clinton is an ex-Motelier and possesses extensive knowledge in the hospitality and accommodation sector, which he will bring to the Board’s deliberations. Clinton and his wife, Robyn, reside in Napier.

Our past Chairperson Rick Martin has re-joined the Board as our Executive Director. After twenty plus years Rick plans to slowly move away from the Board. We do of course need his vast knowledge of everything Lake Edge, so Rick is still here to assist the team.

At each years AGM we have two of the current Directors stand down on a rotational basis. If you would consider standing to be part of the Lake Edge Board team, then please reach out to myself or one of the other Board members and have a chat with us about what skills you can bring to the team. All the Board members contact details are on the Lake Edge website and we welcome any feedback at any time.

Thank you to all those who attended the recent AGM. A fewer less attendees in person this year, we do of course understand that it is quite a distance for some to travel for what is generally a very short AGM. This year we trialled a live stream of the AGM, which was attended by 23 of our shareholders. Going forward we plan to embrace technology and for future AGM’s we hope to have an interactive live stream so that there is the ability to ask questions and enter into any discussions remotely. As a Board we have two face-to-face meetings each year in May (linked to the AGM) and November. We do also have regular meetings on Zoom/Teams as required. On the Friday prior to our face-to-face meetings and before guest arrivals, the directors undertake a bit of a walk around look at the Resort, basically many eyes having a look at how it is all going and of course seeing the various upgrades that have been approved.

Congratulations to our Resort manager Karryn Raikes and her team. They are certainly keeping our standards up and there are lots of improvements being done. Several of the new ensuite bathrooms are now completed and all feedback is very positive. The team are continually looking to bring our apartments up to a high modern-day standard, so look out updated furniture and décor when you next stay.

Karryn is also pulling us rapidly into the new world of technology and marketing so look out in the coming months for a few changes here.

Your input as shareholders is invaluable in helping us as a Board with some of our decision making, so please watch out with some surveys coming your way soon and we look forward to your responses.

Finally, a reminder again that we are your elected Board and here to oversee the Resort and that it is kept to the very highest of standards and service. You can contact any Board member at any time.

Resort Roundup

We are approaching the shortest day of the year, and the first half has certainly gone by quickly with lots of updates and upgrades happening around the resort from gardens to new electronic door handle locks to the newly completed ensuite bathrooms that give the Resort a freshen up.

Apartments six, seven, 10 and 12 new ensuites are complete, with Apartment 11 underway this week, and Apartment two to be completed by the end of August. 

Fence/Gates have been installed at the top of the steps down to the lake with further fencing being installed in the walkway by Apartment 10, the steps past Apartment 4/5 and at the top of the steps from Apartment 1 to the lions walk. The Exterior security cameras and extra lighting around the resort are also making a difference to enhance safety and security.

Share Certificates: We have added the car park allocation to all Share Certificates. Please see the template picture below as an example. These are all on file at the office, however, if you would like an updated copy please email us and we will email you a digital copy for your records.

Wait lists/Bookings: Our booking calendars open 12 months in advance. Any ballots required and/or waitlist requests will be attended to at the end of each calendar month and subsequent booking confirmations sent out via email at the beginning of each month.

Home Resort Exchange Weeks

Banking Weeks with 7Across: Please note that banked exchange weeks can be used back at Lake Edge in the winter months around May, June and July as availability allows.

From time to time we have cancellations outside of the winter months. In this instance, we will offer weeks firstly to our owners and then if there are no takers, we will then open up offers to enable you to use your exchange week back at Lake Edge.

Booking Your Exchange Week(s) at Lake Edge: We have manged to secure a deal with 7Across to override the requirement from 7Across to have a Gold Advantage membership. You can now use your exchange week back at Lake Edge Resort with a regular membership, however the standard exchange fee will still apply.

Please let us know at the time of banking your week or as soon as possible the date you wish to use your banked week back at Lake Edge so we can arrange and allocate the week for you with 7Across.

Website and Other Digital Platform Upgrades

We are in the process of updating our digital footprint in the next few weeks, from the Website upgrade, Trip Advisor, Booking.com, New Zealand.com and of course our Facebook page.

If you are interested in writing a review for any of these platforms it would be much appreciated so we can extend our reach out to any interested potential new shareholders!

Rentals and Member Portal

We are starting to list extra vacancies for our rental Apartment on Booking.com. In July we will roll out visibility on the Members Portal on our website to show any rental availability or any "specials" to our owners.

The Member Portal has also been updated to contain more information on which specific Apartments are available at the time of booking.

Please contact the office if you wish to have your week rented out and we can arrange the rental on your behalf.

Promotions

Wairakei Terraces Discount:  Special Pass Cards are now available for our Owners: enjoy a relaxing soak at the Wairakei Terraces with a discounted entry price eg $10 for seniors - so next time you are staying at Lake Edge, come and ask us at reception if you would like to know more!

Te Puia: has also offered us a promo codes for discounts so let us know when you are staying and we can give you the details.
